Mars on Earth -  Cassandra Klos We are inundated with information about the cosmos, whether it is the appearance of water on a different planet or landing our man-made satellite on a comet. It is clear we are awed  by this celestial imagery we cannot comprehend, and yet this unknown contributes to a need for exploration past our comfortable bounds. The interest of expanding the human race onto the planets around us is not a new concept, but only since the last few decades has the scientific community truly explored the idea that our neighbor planet, Mars, may be more like Earth than we ever considered. I found the "Mars on Earth" series by Cassandra Klos to be extremely captivating. The series has a new and interesting perspective because it tricks the viewer into thinking the photos were not even taken in our world. Color Bang "I have always been fascinated by the planets and stars, looking through telescopes and wondering what these far off places might look like. With this series I have tried to create imaginary solar systems and super novas using different materials, and fireworks for my light source to make one-of-a-kind camera less images directly onto color and black and white photographic paper. Like the darkness in outer space, I work in the dark to create images that mimic the interstellar places that I always dreamed about going to as a kid." - Ross Sonnenberg The "Color Bang" series by Ross Sonnenberg was very surprising to me at first. I had never seen a photogram with such an intense variety of color. Most of the examples shown in class were impressive, but they focused more on interesting shapes rather than vibrant colors.
